Insight into your complaint

In practice, a psychodiagnostic test examination will be in order to gain clearer insight into the nature of the complaints and problems mentioned and the underlying personality traits. Such an examination research implies that you typically fill out several questionnaires at home.

For test research the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2) is usualy used. The MMPI-2 is a broad spectrum evidence-based psychodiagnostic test for personality problems, problems that are experienced consciously and those arising from one’s unconscious perception. The MMPI-2 measures slight mental health problems to severe psychiatric problems*. For more intense examination of personality traits, the SCID-5-PD can additionally be taken. We also have the facilities to carry out neuropsychological tests if neuropsychological problems are suspected. Neuropsychological testing can be done. An intelligence, autism and AD(H)D-examination can also be done.

The completed questionnaires must be returned to the secretariat. After the completed MMPI-2 questionnaire have been received by us, one of our psychologists will analyze the answers. The test scores will be discussed with you in an individual (test) interview.

*Repeated MMPI-2 and possibly additional tests will help us determine exactly what progress has been made and what progress still needs to be made.

Purpose

Based on the intake interviews, test scores and the test interview, a report will be drawn up. You can then discuss your test report with a clinical psychologist or psychotherapist. The test report can provide clarity on what kind of therapy will be best for you or on what objective should be pursued in therapy.

Anyhow, a report about your personality can be very enlightening; you get more insight into your personality and into how it relates to your complaints.
